For those unfortunate souls who kindly read my takes each week, you usually get a nice quote from a Fletch movie or Warrant song, but I felt that given all the fun and games happening in the Hub City the past few days a more serious quote is necessary.

In case you've tried to avoid all news about the Red Raiders after the wonderful loss the Houston, the end of the game wasn't where the game for the Red Raiders ended. Brandon Carter, he of the painted face and mohawk, not only lost his captaincy, but he was also suspened indefinetly. And one of the linebackers felt that a good place to vent his frustration was on Twitter so Leach banned all players from Twitter, Facebook, crayons etc. Which led to some fun radio chatter about 1st amendment rights. Pssst, here's a secret, IT IS NOT A RIGHT TO PLAY COLLEGE FOOTBALL THE COACH IS THE BOSS AND HE MAKES THE RULES. IF YOU CAN'T LIVE WITH THEM THERE ARE MANY FINE SMALLER SCHOOLS YOU CAN TRANSFER TO AND ENJOY PLAYING IMMEDIATELY. KILGORE COLLEGE, SAM HOUSTON STATE, WEST TEXAS A&M ARE JUST A FEW SUGGESTIONS.

And that leads to these quick notes about Leach. As I stated after the game, Tech lives with Leach and Tech dies with Leach. He made the decisions last year that resulted in a heck of a year and he's making the decisions now. I state before every big game that Leach can outcoach himself and last saturday he proved it again. I'm sorry but going for it rather thank kicking a field goal was wrong. But only because of the game situation. A field goal gives you an 8 point lead and not only does your defense then only need to stop them on the next drive, if they don't then your defense only has to stop them from making the two point conversion. If they do not do that, your team gets the ball back and who knows what happens in the remaining minutes of the game and in over time. You run for it and get stuffed, you are screwed.

And Leach chose the difficult path and lost. And possibly lost this team.

GAME PREVIEW

This is short and sweet. UNM Lobos have a new coaching staff, new offense (spread option) and new defense (4-3 instead of 3-3-5). So all the players starting were recruited to run a completly different type of game than what this staff want to do. They lost 23 letterman and only have 9 returning starters. They were picked to finish dead last in the Mountain West and are off to 0-4 start ranking 118th in offense and 107th in defense.

Tech should kill them. Of course I've been wrong all year.
